Abstract

The way to bring the conventional Graphical User Interface from the screen to the space is a popular research topic since a decade ago. One of the popular approaches is Spatial Augmented Reality. Imagine that a laptop computer equips a depth camera to recognize and reconstruct its surrounding objects, and a micro-projector to visualize and collocate digital information with these recognized physical objects. Users will no longer be limited to interact with digital information within a small flat screen, and the physical affordances can be further leveraged to provide intuitive manipulation. We design, implement and demonstrate this concept in COMPUTEX 2009, CES 2009 and CeBit 2009 to collect feedbacks from the users as well as the markets.
