Actuating Geometry Workshop
Dynamic tangible surface is not a brand new concept, and many projects have already discovered it, such as Hyposurface, Recompose, and Tangible Pixels. These projects had used single axis mechanism to create surface deformations and movements. However, the single axis mechanism provided limited degree of freedom for surface deformation. Tangible Surface tries to break the limitation by designing and implementing a three DoF actuation mechanism. With Tangible Surface system, a dynamic mathematical surface is simulated on the screen and at the same time actuated in the physical world.
